Qualifications / Skills
The nominating committee will prioritize the following kinds of experience in reviewing applications for board membership: membership on non-profit boards and/or committees, experience in fundraising, event planning, and volunteering to events, experience working cooperatively in diverse groups, knowledge of the Alliance Française and French culture.
Board members must be members in good standing of the AF, and available to attend regular board meetings (usually on Thursday evenings),
the annual membership meeting (usually on a Saturday), work on board committees, help plan, organize, and volunteer at AF events, and
assist with fundraising.
Because of these responsibilities, applicants should describe their relevant experience in these areas, such as working with community or
non-profit organizations as a board member, committee member, or volunteer. The nominating committee will prioritize experience in
fundraising, as well as experience working collaboratively with the AF by volunteering for committees, events, or special projects, as well
as familiarity with the AF and French culture.
Members of the AF may submit an application for themselves or on behalf of another member. The application should summarize the
person's background, the reasons for wanting to join the board, and how the person would contribute to the AF. The board's nominating
committee may interview prospective candidates and recommend a slate of directors to the membership, with the election held at the annual
membership meeting, tentatively scheduled for May.
Applications should be sent to the AF by email and must be received no later than February 29, 2024. Applications
received after that date, unfortunately, cannot be considered. Please include contact emails and phone numbers.
