Adult Language Courses and Special Interest Classes

SUMMER SESSION: JUNE 24 - AUGUST 30, 2013 

Over 20 different classes will be offered; summer schedule now available.

Classes are offered once a week in 5 or 10 week sessions (except for our special Français intensif class new this summer - see below). Tuition varies accordingly. See our CLASS SCHEDULE for details, but please note that not all classes will be offered each session. Print out the  registration form here.

Private tutoring is available at $45 per hour, $50 for two people.

If you wish to enroll in a class, please fill out the registration form and mail it with your check to the Alliance.

Types of Courses:

• Courses with textbook and audiovisual material (10 weeks). We offer Beginner through Advanced levels.
• Special Interest classes (10 or 5 weeks) with variable subjects such as literature, travel, conversation, writing, grammar,  etc.  We alos offer 1.5 hour classes for five weeks, including French Songs and Intermediate Conversation.

SUMMER 2013 session offers:

Our regular 10 week language courses PLUS special interest classes of 5 and 10 weeks duration, as well as a few 1.5 hour classes.

5 weeks

• Travel: practical situations for travel in a French-speaking country. Beginner level.
• Grammar/Conversation: conversation & discussion of short articles, combined with grammar revision. Intermediate level.
• Literature Conversation: read and discuss literary works. Advanced level.

10 weeks

• Conversation à thèmes: Intermediate level.
• Régions de France: highlights individual regions' history, geography, economy & culture. Advanced level.

• Grammar/conversation/literature: review and discussion of literary work. Advanced level.

5 weeks - 1.5 hours

• Chanson françaises: an opportunity to listen to and study the lyrics of classic French songs. Low intermediate level.
• Conversation: Intermediate level.

New for the summer only:  

Français intensif: 3 hours per day, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday for 4 consecutive weeks. Special pricing applies:

• $440 for new students
• $420 for students continuing from our current spring session
• $860 for a new couple
• $820 for a couple who are both continuing students from our spring session.

Tuition Fees

Fees for classes may not be pro-rated due to student's absence. Please note that this policy will only be revised in exceptional circumstances.

10-week Session

• Continuing students from previous session: $200 ($380 for couple or 2 classes)
• All other students: $220 ($420 for couple or 2 classes)

5-week Session

• Continuing students from previous session: $120 ($230 for couple or two classes)
• All other students: $130 ($250 for couple or 2 classes)

1.5 hour classes

• Continuing students from previous session: $100; all other students: $110

Prices vary for more than one class; contact us for special pricing.

There is a $20 additional charge per person per 10-week class, and $10 per person per 5-week class, if we receive your enrollment fee after June 15, 2013.

Additional cost for books and/or hand-outs in some courses.

If you are not already an Alliance Française member, or if your membership has expired, please add $25 additional membership.

Please be aware that some classes fill quickly, so to assure a place, you should make payment early.
